Getting kids interested in golf

Getting kids involved in sports is a great way to keep them active and healthy but also a great way to create memories that will last forever. Some of my most memorable moments in my life we're definitely sports oriented. Getting kids involved in golf can be a little more challenging then other sports because of its difficulty so I wanted to share a few of my teaching methods when it comes to kids. Rule number one is keep it fun and light hearted by comparing the swing to an elephant's trunk or a bucket of water. 2 is don't spend too much time on one thing, kids get bored or frustrated so 15 minutes then move on to something different. Also be encouraging and complimentary nobody wants to be criticized every shot they take so say things like your really strong and once you can hit that ball well it's gonna fly a mile or I really like your swing we just need to tweak it a little. A last sometimes you just need to back away and let them smash a few balls without any swing thoughts and reset a bit. I find that if kids can just hit a few balls well and feel some success they will be hooked and they also haven't developed any bad habits yet so it's much easier to coach kids then adults. Please call or stop by if you have any questions about getting your child into golf I look forward to seeing you.
